Grinnin’ like a ‘possum eatin’ a sweet potato

Why is the man smiling? Heck, why is he positively ecstatic? He just landed his first South Platte River trout! (Yup. On a scud.) I’m back from a whirlwind tour of the southwest, and while it was mostly a family vacation, two days of fishing were had on Colorado’s famed South Platte River. Naturally, there will be details forthcoming, but suffice to say I have a new favorite nymphing-for-trout river. Hint: this was the smallest fish I landed all trip. Stay tuned — you’re not going to want to miss this one. (Photo by Chris Steinbeck.)

Hi Steve! Looking forward to your follow up South Platte update. Was back home in Westfield MA this June 2022 for a family wedding and started following CurrentSeams after investigating a “desired” guided trip on the Farmington (last fished first me back in 1980 while living in Simsbury CT for a short period).

I enjoyed your grinning pic in today’s currentseams email since I had a similar grin on the South Platte last August 2021 on a guided trip just down stream of Decker’s.

    Best Regards,

Hi Ken, and welcome aboard! Hopefully you can get back to fish the Farmington some time soon. I’m hoping to start the first South Platte installment today or tomorrow. 🙂
