The Countermeasure, my favorite smallmouth bass bug, is the featured pattern in Tony Lolli’s “Guide Flies” column. It’s in the current (April 2020) issue of On The Water. Here’s a link to my original post on the Countermeasure. For bonus material, you’ve got a photo of the column and a pdf. Please support fishing magazines and writers by reading and subscribing. Without readers like you, we are nothing.
I am a Project Lead in a Healing Waters group, which teaches disabled veterans fly fishing. I saw your original post and taught my group the Counter Measure fly. It was one of their favorite flies. It gave them practice on a number of techniques. We have not had a chance to try them yet but, will try them soon. I also teach other patterns from your site. Thanks!
That’s so cool to hear! Thanks for reading currentseams, and for your volunteer time. btw, my oldest son Bill is a Marine Corps veteran.
