Wowee! 100 followers of Currentseams. I can’t thank all of you enough for your interest in the site, and I’ll try to continue to provide you with more of the same good stuff in 2014.
Speaking of which, let’s celebrate with a little giveaway. The prize is a selection of one dozen wet flies tied by yours truly. Here are the rules:
1) No purchase necessary.
2) You must be one of the original 100 followers of currentseams. That means you started following before January 5, 2014.
3) To enter, leave a comment on this thread saying you wish to enter. (Additional flattering comments about me, my writing, or the site will be appreciated, but will have no bearing on your chances of winning. Really.) One entry per person. Deadline for entering is 11:59pm January 12, 2014. The winner will be chosen at random by Mrs. Culton, official accountant and attorney of currentseams. The winner will be notified in the comments section of this thread, and will be responsible for sending me their address so I can ship the flies out.
4) All decisions by me are final.
Photo for drooling purposes only. Flies may or may not look like these. You get what you get and you don’t get upset. Flies guaranteed to be lovingly crafted by Steve Culton and doused with an abundance of good fishing karma.
For several years I have enjoyed reading your posts on the Stripermoon website, and have enjoyed even more your more in-depth website. Keep up the great work, and Happy New Year!
Sweet flies Steve ! Just like your website and articles. Thanks….&…..Peace
ooops I would like to enter the giveaway……..
You’re in. Peace to you, too.
Only 100 people- that is a shame- I look forward to the posts.
Fred
Fred, I leave it to you to spread the word. Thanks for reading.
PS to my last comment: A couple of years ago Steve posted pictures and directions for tying a Magog smelt for striper fishing. I tied some up and took one to Rangeley, ME, where it caught a 5 1/4 lb. brook trout, my best ever. This season, his suggestion of tying some September Nights led to my largest ever striper,16lb 36″, caught casting from my kayak off West Beach in Charlestown, RI. So, when Steve has some suggestions for flies, pay attention!
Congratulations, Paul. Those are both impressive. You’re in.
PPS: I DO wish to enter!
Steve,
Met you and got to watch you tie at the Spey Clave last spring. Since, I have moved to North Carolina. Getting ready to start fishing the South Holsten. A tail water fishery like the Farmington. I enjoy your journals. I look forward to reading them…
Rick…
Hi Rick. Have fun getting to know your new home waters.
I could use those wet flies especially with the same dose of magic imbedded in them as your last steelhead trip.
Tight Lines,
Howard Geller
Wet flies have their own built-in magic. I still haven’t gotten over that trip.
Nice Steve, I’m in! I am probably one of the newer followers to your blog. I follow you in my “feedly”. I discovered you through other “small stream” blogs of the northeast. Thanks for sharing!
-Jay
You’re welcome, Jay. Glad you like it.
Steve – I’m in. I enjoy the blog, the comments from your followers and your print articles.
Thanks, will. I have a bunch of print articles in the works for later this year.
I wish to enter! Love your posts, photos, and flies. I tied up a bunch of your drowned wet ants and can’t wait to try them.
Zak Griefen
Thanks, Zak. The Drowned Ant is one of my favorite flies.

Thanks, Josh. More good stuff to come.
Good evening Steve, I wish to enter your giveaway. After tying flies with you, taking your wet fly fishing course on the Farmington, and listening to your presentation on Brookies, I can’t wit to try your signature flies in a variety of streams. Happy New Year to you and yours! Regards, Ron
You’re a regular currentseams vet, Ron. Thanks for all your kindness and support.
Steve,
Congrats on 100 followers! Being new to CT and to fly fishing, your writing and photography are a big part of what got me interested in small stream fishing. I attended your Wet Fly 101 class a few months ago and am looking forward to practicing the techniques more in the Spring. Thanks for making a big contribution to sport and to newcomers like me.
Cheers,
Han
My pleasure, Han. I remember you from the presentation. It’s been a little cold for brookies the past few days.
Steve,
Congrats on the first 100. Now it is on to 250. Please sign me up for your first 100 drawing.
Best,
Tom
Tom, you can help me get to 250 by telling a few of your friends about currentseams. 🙂
Congrats on the first 100. Please include me in your drawing.
Thanks, John. You’re in.
Steve, Well done and congratulations. Now,………. I want those flies!!! Sign me up! Hopefully, I will see you in Rhode Island.
Jim Smith
Looking forward to it, Jim.
Steve – You probably have more then the 100 followers you’ve listed as I follow you with Feedly which is a RSS reader and am not linked into your follower list. Regardless I thought you would like to know I made a slight modification of your chartruse and orange Steelhead fly and caught a nice Steelhead this Dec. Keep up the interesting bloggin.
Keith
Hi Keith,
Thanks for the info. This shows what a Luddite I am. I’d never heard of Feedly before yesterday, let alone an RSS reader. Which steelhead fly are you talking about? Glad it worked for you.
Steve – Oct 22 2103 bottom left. I changed the orange thread to hot pink and used a translucent tinsel instead of a gold. Caught a very nice female on the 2nd cast.
Hard to go wrong with a partridge soft-hackle. That fly is based on several patterns, from the traditional NoCo spider to Jim Garret’s Candy Montana.
See Rule #4. You’re in.
Nice flies, well done. I want them so please enter me. For the drawing. Have a great 2014.

Well I am thinking I have been following your blog before you hit the 100 mark, but I am unsure. I love the work and pictures you do, and hope I can be entered in for the wet fly…. I need some for my fly box 🙂
You are so in. Thanks for your kind words.
Awesome. Thank you!!!!
Happy New Year Steve! Great Blog…always good honest materials and well written!
I especially enjoy your Striper posts. Keep tying those flatwings!
Please enter me in the contest, CA trout will love those flies…Regards, Dave
Thanks, Dave. That’s the nice thing about wet flies. Trout everywhere love them…in any century.
Hey Steve,
Jay again. As a new follower, and judging from all of these responses I guess I came to the right place for tying tips and fishing tales! I enjoy tying flies, and with all due respect, I’d like to take myself out of the running for the flies. One of the “OG” followers deserves it a lot more. I look forward to keeping up with your posts, hopefully enjoy a class of yours and maybe a hike trip for brookies, or a beach trip for stripers. I like cigars, beer, and wine too.
I like anyone who likes cigars, beer, and wine. I had two of the three this evening. I will follow your wishes, and hope to see you at one of the classes.
I’d like to enter Steve. Looking forward to that wet fly class. Stellar photography!
Thanks for the comment. You’re in. 🙂
And the winner is…Will, who entered January 5, 2014 at 7:13 pm.
Email me your mailing address, Will, and I’ll send you the flies…as soon as I tie them. 🙂
