TGIF, fellow Currentseamsers. And thank you for being part of the Faithful Five Hundred! To celebrate, we’re doing our customary flies-tied-by-Steve giveaway. Here are the contest rules:
1) No purchase necessary.
2) You must be a follower of currentseams to enter. (If you’re not one already, you become a follower by clicking on the “Stay current with currentseams” button on the home page.)
3) To enter, leave a comment on this thread saying you wish to enter AND share with us the name of a favorite fly pattern. One entry per person. Deadline for entering is 11:59pm March 31, 2017 (no foolin’). Three winners will be chosen at random. The winners will be notified in the comments section of this thread or by email, and will be responsible for sending me their address so I can ship the flies out. Sorry, I can only ship to U.S. addresses.
4) All decisions by me are final.
Thanks again for reading and following currentseams.
A dozen classic North Country spiders — and they could be yours. One lucky winner will get to swim these in a river this spring. They’re tied on light wire hooks with Pearsall’s Gossamer silks. Left cork: Winter Brown, Black Magic. Right cork, clockwise from 3 o’clock: Orange Partridge, Snipe and Purple, Grey Partridge, Poult Bloa.
I would like to be entered. My favorite fly last year was the partidge and orange. I learned a lot about fishing the wet fly reading your posts.
In with Isonychia
I wish to enter! Currently my favorite fly is a Usual, followed closely by Snowshoe Emerger a la Bob Wyatt. Still love your Drowned Ant, though. Zak
I’d like a crack at the “flies for five hundred”. My favorite fly pattern is a March Brown Wet. It just looks right, though I catch less when I use it. Maybe time to go on the river with you Steve. Cheers and congrats on 500.
I would love to enter….Culton’s famous Squirrel and Ginger; queen of the waters is my second favorite!
Congratulations Steve on 500 followers!
Tight lines,
Alton
OOPS! Any and all soft hackles!
I wish to enter. Congrats on 500 followers!! My favorite fly is the PT Soft Hackle, with or without the bead!
Congrats on getting to 500!
To Infinity and beyond.
Thanks for your support of CVTUs banquet last night… You Rock!
See you at the FCF&G meeting
I love all the wet Fly but the squirrel and ginger is killer.

Royal Coachman, Steve.
Inherited from my Dad’s fly box.
Thank you for the invitation. I would like to be entered into your contest. One of my favorite flies is the Platt River Spider.
The photos are gr8 because for a guy who doesn’t tie they really show the end result clearly. Maybe i will get lucky.
Please enter me in your contest. I think I’m going to a single pattern this year – Soft hackle pheasant tail and partridge.
Really enjoy your comments or I would not be here lol!!
Being that BWOs are around almost all the time. According to a book I read by an entomologist, BWOs constitute the greatest percentage of dry flies trout eat because they are so ubiquitous.
I would go with a comparadun BWO
I wish to enter, please. Favorite fly is a Klinkhammer. I really enjoy reading your posts.
I wish to enter the contest. My favorite fly would most likely be the soft hackle that is at the moment catching fish, but if forced to choose, I would go with Leisenring’s Spider.
I had the good fortune to attend graduate school close to his home town and was able to see many of the waters he fished. Sometimes, I could sense his presence.
Please include me in the raffle.
One favorite of mine is
Glass bead zebra midge
Count me in. I’ll be chasing the spring stripers with an R.L.S. Sure Thing very soon.
I would like to enter. Favorite fly: Ken’s Crazy Any.

Steve,
Please enter my name into the fray! My favorite pattern is one called “Tan Flymph” which is a great searching pattern for me. Small sizes seem to work the best, 14’s and 16’s mostly!
I was prowling around your site and wow! It is fantastic! I will visit here often and continue to enjoy your other entries in the archives!
Thanks for creating such a great site!

Wish to enter
Pheasant tail nymph
I wish to enter. My favorite fly would be a green caddis pupa.
I would like to be entered, my favorite fly, the “Frenchie”.
I would like to enter. My favorite fly is Ray’s Fly because it doesn’t have to followed to the letter to catch fish. I have tied hundreds of them, all different colors, and they all work.
Congratulations on 500!. I like any wet fly.
Enter me up. The rs2 in grey does well for me. Keep up the good work.
Please add me to the long list! I’m sure the central PA trout would love those flies. Thanks for all you do!
Oh yes, love the simplicity of the North Country spiders!
Please enter me in the raffle. Thanks for the chance, and I’ll take my chances with a small pheasant tail.
Please enter, leadwing coachman.
Please enter; Clouser Minnow
Please enter me in your drawing. Thank you.
I like to use softhackles here in Florida for bluegills, shell crackers, and bass.
